Effort
Today, we are giving another term from our book, “How to Understand Your Job Better: Hutar Job and Business Terms,” available for sale here on the website.
Effort
Effort is the amount of thought and energy put out to do something. In most cases an employee has an abundance of reserve energy. Effort is not only physical but mental. In a growth company all effort is expended either by individuals or groups- or by the entire company. A “gung-ho” company doesn’t let any grass grow under its feet. It is the company that’s “on the ball.”
Many times the right effort is not expended because of bad habits or poor training, not realizing what degree of effort should be used to do the job. Studies have shown that individuals use only ten to twenty percent of the total energy or effort potential.
Effort is another way of saying, “You get out of life what you put into it.” If you work hard, you’re dedicated to your job, you have the desire and ability to accept additional authority and responsibility, you will have a rich, full and rewarding life.
Everything in life takes effort- from getting up in the morning to eating your evening meal, and the expending of effort is good and healthy. It is necessary to expend effort and energy to stay healthy, to stay alert, to be in situations where “life is happening.”
Questions for Reflection:
What is your personal reward for putting forth the effort to do a good job?
How does your health effect how much effort you can give?
Are you happy with where you are in life? How much effort would it take to get there?
