Success Consists Of...

Want. Work. Get.

This is our little angular friend. It’s like a pyramid, but not quite. So what is it? It’s a reminder. It’s something to work for. It’s something you can print off and use to keep yourself on target.

It’s a ladder of sorts, only the base is the goal. If you haven’t read the previous post, now would be a good time to familiarize yourself with the concept.

There are many examples of people who exhibit Want-Work-Get. You might even be able to think of a few in your industry. Perhaps competitors. Maybe people you’ve read about. What keeps these people going? If you answered ‘passion for what they do,’ you would be correct.

Achieve Your Goal
Some people do their job to get through the day only so they have a reason to relax at night. They accomplish their goal- they get through the day, and relax at night. Those who really have a passion for what they do certainly have loftier goals than that.

What are your goals?
What are you actually trying to achieve?
What is your OSP?
What the heck is an OSP?

An OSP stands for Outstanding Success Plan. This is different than an ordinary, run-of-the-mill Success Plan. Anyone can have a Success Plan. Maybe you define success by surviving your day. Maybe it means you completed your project the day it was due. Doesn’t sound very Outstanding does it? What you need to do is go above and beyond if you want to succeed above and beyond. This won’t be easy, but if you have passion for what you do, and a clear vision of where you want to be, it is doable, and even exciting. It’s one of the first steps to accomplishing what you want to accomplish.

Questions for Reflection:
Do you have passion for what you do?
Are you willing to drop your average, run-of-the-mill Success Plan?
What will you change to make it Outstanding?
